Well I always have two voices about any hot current affairs. It is no different this time too. I have an inner struggle about making up my mind to support Anna Hazare crusade against corruption. Well isn't it obvious choice to support any fight against corruption? For me it is a difficult choice.
Om Civil society is divided about the method of protest that Anna has adapted? They say it is blackmail?
Is Gandhiji a blackmailer? Is his method of protest which we call satyagraha a blackmailing tactics? As Gandhiji says it is wrong to keep silent and not protest against injustice. Corruption is like untouchability that is plaguing our modern society. This need to be wiped out from top.
Om, there are people who says that parliamentary democracy will be in danger, if government bow to Anna method of protest.
Well what is democracy without peoples will? Wouldn't it be a government dictatorship when they don't bow to peoples will? Wouldn't it be a victory to democracy when peoples voice is heard in parliament.
Om, Are MP not elected by us? Is parliament has prerogative to pass bill? Can bills be passed on streets? Should it not be trusted and allowed to perform? Is this not the way to force upon laws? Would it become a precedence to other agitation and bringing down government?
Yes MP are elected by us, but I don't know if many of them represent their constituency majority. An MP gets elected by a maximum number of votes polled. He does not have to represent majority of his constituency. Our average voting percentage is 60% that means 40% don't vote or not made their mind on any of the candidates. We can think they have rejected all the candidates. Out of this 60% polled votes are shared between all the candidates. So it like an MP has won a match and not that he represent majority of his constituency.
Parliament has to pass the bill and MP have to listen to their people in constituency. They should be voices of their people in Parliament and not their political bosses and party.
It took 40 years of debating to pass lokpal bill. Yet it is not passed. So was the case with Women's reservation bill. If MPs in Parliament does not do their duty, people have to take to streets.
If the MPs don't attend parliament and don't do their work and pass bill that help people, whats wrong in protesting and bringing in government.
It would be sad for Indian democracy if this becomes a precedence, that indicates that the elected representative have put themselves above the people.
Om, Does a bill be passed without a debate? Is Team Anna version of Jan Lokpal correct for India? Does Prime minister be included into Lokpal?
Bill should not be passed without debate, but this bill is in parliament for 40 years. How much more time will our Parliament sit on this bill. Are they serious to pass this bill? Why should not be prime minister be under this Law. He is one among equals.
Om, Wouldn't you participate in this struggle against corruption?
Yes, but first I need to make myself eligible to be solider in this struggle. Following are the basic things I would like to start.

Yes, but first I need to make myself eligible to be solider in this struggle. Following are the basic things I would like to start.
- Vote to a right candidate. I will spend some time to know who the candidates are before voting. Not just party affiliations. If I dont find any right candidate I would go to the polling booth and opt for "no vote"
- Would follow traffic rules strictly. Most corruption start just outside our houses.
- Would not be in a hurry to take shortcuts to achieve something.
